Activesync Error 80883001

This morning, Activesync started playing up, when I connected my Palm Treo Pro to Activesync this is the dialog that appeared on my PC.

On my Treo Pro:

Basically, Activesync is going to reysnc all my data to my Treo Pro. I don't know what caused this but a search on google for Error 80883001 identified a LOT of unhappy people getting this error and not knowing the cause of it. It may have been something to do with me installing and uninstalling Photo Contacts Pro yesterday but I think it's more likely that WindowsUpdate (which runs at 3AM every morning) has updated something in Windows.
This happened before and, at the time I had thousands of calendar entries resulting in the sync taking 1-2 days (yes, really! - I left it syncing over 2 days in work). Also, at the time, the pim.vol file doubled in size so I deleted that, and also partnered the device in Activesync again.

Since then I had cleared most of the calendar entries, so I thought I'd leave Activesync sort out it's own mess. I made a note of the size of pim.vol - it was 9.75MB before it started the sync. The sync took about an hour and at the end pim.vol was 9.28MB which was good. But, I'd lost all my changes I'd made to Calendar, Tasks and Contacts since yesterday - it wasn't too bad as I hadn't made that many.

Maybe one day Microsoft will be able to fix this issue - or at least acknowledge it.
UPDATE: I've read since that the problem is caused when folders are added to Outlook. I did do this yesterday I think so on Monday I'll disable syncing for email as I never use that anyway.
